Electronic Arts announced today that EA Redwood Shores, the development company that brought us Dead Space, has changed its company name to Visceral Games.

"In the last two years the studio has adopted a new identity as we've
committed ourselves to a new set of development principles and game design values," GM Glen Schofield said. “The name change represents who we are and what we believe games should be. Primal action is the beating heart of the studio and now our new name reflects that.”

As part of the announcement, Visceral Games has also revealed they are working on two unannounced projects outside of Dead Space: Extraction for Wii and Dante’s Inferno for PS3, Xbox 360 and PSP.

So what does this name change mean for us gamers? Aside from the fact that we’ll be seeing an image of a neat skull with “Visceral Games” written under it before the Dead Space title screens appears, absolutely nothing – which is good. And if the two unannounced games are as good as Dead Space, we’re in. We’ll just have to buy more underwear.
